In July, a town of Spišská Nová Ves, considered to be a gateway to Slovak Paradise National Park, lures its visitors to enjoy an extraordinary event. It is one of the oldest such events in Slovakia.
The Spiš Fair
Continuing the tradition of annual markets with royal privileges awarded centuries ago, The fair is held in the mid-July in the city centre at the Old Town Hall Square and nearby streets of the town of Spišská Nová Ves. Truly popular among the youngest visitors for whom the numerous merry-go-rounds of almost any kind imaginable, the Fair nowadays turns the metropolis of Spiš historical region into the Slovak Disneyland.
Manifold cultural and entertainment programme of the four-day event offers a lot of music and fun and lasting as a open-air event until early morning hours.
