More and more popular every year, the Long Night of Museums and Galleries opens museums and art galleries to the public all across Slovakia. The biggest state institutions, including the Slovak National Gallery, are annually on the list of participating institutions.
Most of the branches of these institutions such the
Slovak National Museum or the
Slovak National Gallery will be opened until
late at night, with the goal of showing visitors some background facts, making the exhibits more open to the public and also showing some yet unknown sides of the museology and gallery work. Various lectures, commenced excursions, workshops, family programmes, concerts and other interesting activities take place at
this occasion.
This year, Slovak National Gallery will participate with its premises in
Bratislava, Gallery of Naïve Art in
Pezinok's
Schaubmar Mill,
Strážky Mansion, Ľudovít Fulla Gallery in
Ružomberok and
Zvolen Castle. Besides the programmes accompanying the current exhibitions, some special events have been prepared. One of the events not requiring Slovak language skills is the photography workshop for adults in the Slovak National Gallery in
Bratislava. Special events are also prepared in relation to exhibitions From the Academy to Nature, The Kornel and Naďa Földvári Library and Land behind the Map: Amazing Art History with Professor Hampster.
