What do Bratislava, Lille (France), Malmö (Sweden), San Sebastian (Spain), Trieste (Italy) and Kirkenes (Norway) have in common? According to the American news network CNN, they are the six most interesting border cities in Europe.
CNN describes Bratislava as the city that charmed Hans Christian Andersen, and which was the capital of the Hungarian kingdom for three centuries. CNN also states the former official names of the city – Istropolis, Pressburg and Wilson’s City (for the short period after WW1).The CNN journalist also advises visiting the reconstructed Bratislava Castle – a majestic testament of the city’s prestigious history, with great sweeping views across the impressive Danube. Traditional Bratislava cuisine, influenced by neighbouring Austria and Hungary, is also highlighted.
