The oldest festival of amateur theatre in Europe celebrates incredible 96th jubilee. Come to Martin from August 28th to September 2nd and enjoy the culture at the end of summer holidays.
As early as in 1923, during the 1st Congress of amateur actors in Martin, all-Slovakia Theater Contest of Central Office of Slovak Amateur Theatres was held. Today, Scenic Harvest the top national festival with international participation.
Nowadays, the Scenic Harvest Festival is the top show regarding the performances of national theatre companies and individuals in all fields of amateur theatre that meet their foreign theatre colleagues.
This Festival is regularly held in late August in Slovak Chamber Theatre and thanks to the accompanying events it has gained a greater extent not only for theater audience. Thus, it has become a really diverse cultural event both for inhabitants and visitors of lovely Turiec region capital.
The festival is usually organised by National Edification Centre. Exhibitions, concerts, and performances in streets of Martin and in the Festival Tent are also parts of it.
The Award for the Creative Act of the Year is granted at the Festival.
