December festive season of the eventful year at Orava Castle starts with the visit of St. Nicholas. With his suite, he brings a manifold programme full of pre-Christmas atmosphere. Look forward to a craft fair, watch how waffles used to be prepared, try some gingerbread decorations, taste sweet mead and enjoy traditional carols as well as a dramatization of The Snow Quenn fairy-tale.
Fantastic 150th anniversary was celebrated in 2018 at Orava Museum. One of Slovakia's oldest museums was founded in 1868 at Orava Castle by Count Edmund Zichy, the director of then Orava compossessorate. Annualy, there are over 275 thousands people visiting all 9 expositions of the museum.
