The 19th edition of folk celebration associated with the symbolic handing over the keys of the Low Tatra valleys and the beginning of the new agricultural year in the lovely region of Horehronie.
The last Sunday in April each year belongs to the Spring Celebration in Lopej, nowadays a part of Podbrezová. The traditional event opens the festive Mass in the Roman Catholic Church of St. George. Visitors from near and far every year look forward to the allegoric parade, where they can admire the beauty and colourfulness of historical and folk costumes. They open imaginary doors to tourists and visitors.
Patron of Lopej – Knight of Saint George gives the mayors of neighboring municipalities and representatives of farmers the symbolic keys to the Low Tatra valleys and the Slovak Ore Mountains. In the cultural program, folklore groups and a historical fencing group acts are held in this traditional folk fair.
