From November 23, the most beautiful part of Bratislava will turn into a fairytale Christmas market. Until December 22, the Old Town smells of various delicacies and sounds with Christmas carols. It fills with a lot of people and good cheer.
Pre-Christmas time in
Bratislava is inherently connected with glowing streets, Christmas trees and stands full of goodies and craft products. The traditional Christmas market in Bratislava is a great place for people getting together for eating and drinking traditional dishes and drinks as well as maybe do some small shopping. It is always pretty crowded and having a great atmosphere. Around 100 booths are opened every year.
As tradition has it, the Main Square will serve as the centre of the
Bratislava Christmas Fair, with a stage for cultural programmes, stands with refreshments, and stands with Christmas merchandise and delicacies for sale. The main attraction at Františkánske Square will be the ice rink with refreshments and traditional charity stands alongside it.
The
Christmas Market is not only located at the Main Square and Hviezdoslav Square, it will also take place in other locations. In recent years, the Christmas Market have migrated to other places of the city center as well, such as the square in front of the Eurovea shopping center. Whatever the location, irresistible smell and a unique atmosphere will get you for sure.
The market is organised by Bratislava city from November 24th to December 22nd and can be found on Main square, Františkánske square, Courtyard of the Old Town Hall, Hviezdoslavovo square, Square of Milana R. Štefánika, and Primacial square, located in the historical center. It is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. All in all, there will be more than 70 stands at the Main Square Christmas Fair alone. In addition to
great food and souvenirs, musical and dance performances will also make your visit more enjoyable for sure. Children folk ensembles, local and acapella singers or foreign music groups are definitely things to look forward to.
