All the lovers of folk music and songs are invited to the picturesque village of Korytárky near Detva, a native heath of fujara, the queen of shepherd flutes. A presentation show of fujarists' incredible folk music will take place there in mid-July.
Undoubtedly the most extraordinary, the biggest and the most majestic overtone flute of
Europe, fujara belongs to Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritages of Humanity since 2005 and was inscribed in the
UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. This extremely long flute with three finger holes played by Slovak shepherds, is regarded an integral part of the traditional culture of mostly
Central Slovakia, considered to be its birthplace.
