Upper Zemplín is the most eastern region of Slovakia. The region borders on Poland in the north and with Ukraine in the east.

The typical Carpathian landscape with original virgin forest and rare fauna spreads in the north of the region. It offers intact nature, extensive oasis of silence with far-reaching views and picturesque little villages in the region of the Východné Karpaty Mts.

Numerous Orthodox and Greek Catholic wooden temples of high cultural and historic value adorn the region.

The most visited tourist localities of the upper Zemplín are the Domaša water reservoir, as well as the National Park of Poloniny and Protected Landscape Areas of Vihorlat and Východné Karpaty. Medzilaborce with unique Museum of Modern Art of Andy Warhol is one of its interesting towns.

Districts: Humenné, Medzilaborce, Snina, Stropkov, Vranov nad Topľou, partly Michalovce.
