Spiš is the historical territory in the north of Slovakia. Spiš boasts of all basic natural attributes proper to the typical Carpathian landscape. It is arranged in varied mosaics while basins occupy the central position in this composition.

Spiš consisted historically of three regions. Environs of Stará Ľubovňa along with Zamagurie form the northern Spiš, the Popradská kotlina basin represents the central Spiš. The territory drained by the river Hornád and its tributaries constitutes the southern Spiš.

Spiš is one of the regions that display all kinds of natural assets. The National Park Slovenský raj is the paradise for hiking and its view platform at Tomášovský výhľad, the gorge Prielom Hornádu, wild abysses and narrows are indeed wonderful.

Winter in Spiš has a special charm. Downhill skiing in ski resorts Krompachy- Plejsy or Mlynky is well known among fans of ski in Slovakia.

Spiš is extra rich in cultural and historic monuments. No wonder that the Castle Spišský hrad with its environs (the largest medieval compound in Central Europe plus the Chapter of Spiš, the Gothic church in Žehra) was inscribed in the UNESCO List of the World Natural and Cultural Heritage.

Levoča is a captivating medieval town and the gem among the towns in Spiš. It has numerous architectural monuments and the biggest wooden altar in the world. The monuments from the Gothic lie on the tourist route called the Gothic Way.
