The name of Dunajská Streda reminds that according to the old tradition and privilege the fair was held on Wednesday (the name Streda means Wednesday).  This tradition, going back to the Middle Ages, has been preserved and the popular fair is organised even nowadays.

The four-day fair takes place in the third week of September (from Thursday to Sunday) in the centre of the town of Dunajská Streda. The stall-holders offer a variety of handicraft goods and novelties and, of course, good food that can be smelled from a distance as well as good quality wines of the homesteaders from the environs.

The accompanying cultural programme is usually rich, especially for children who amuse themselves on swings and merry-go-rounds. The bigger ones try their luck at shooting galleries and other attractions of the amusement park. The grow-ups can enjoy the street festivity and cultural programme.
