The festival Visegrad Days is a representative anthology of art in the field of theatre, music and visual arts in the countries of the Visegrad group - Czechia, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Anyone is invited to Košice to enjoy its manifold programme.
The place of the
event is an important and determining factor to the whole project. The city of
Košice has exceptional characteristics. Firstly, for its geographical position being located 80 kms from Hungarian town of Miskolc and 200 kms from Krakow in Poland as well as for its historical development. At the beginning of the last century, town of
Košice was an administrative centre for the region, which included the area of two regions in Poland and one region in Transylvania, i.e. an area with the population of seven nationalities. It is natural that it was a city with a multinational composition population.
Since the establishment of Czechoslovakia there has been a population influx of Czech nationality, which intensified the atmosphere of liberality and tolerance. These conditions greatly favoured the development of art, as the clash of different national cultures has always led to the creation and development of new art artefacts and its general prosperity.
