The Traditional Trnava Fair continues the traditions and values of the past and is organised as a memory of the successful market history of his oldest free royal town in Slovakia.
The traditional Trnava market takes place in the town on a yearly basis during the second weekend in September and it includes an exhibition of crafts and handicraft arts.
Its beginning is announced by the fanfares from the Town Tower. The programme of cultural and sports events is rich and the shows of work and art of folk craftsmen alternate with performances of folklore ensembles, concerts of well-known Slovak brass bands as well as modern bands, street theatre and various sports programmes.
The fair atmosphere is made stronger by lively streets, stalls offering a large variety of goods and delicacies such as candy floss, nougat, cigánska pečienka (pork steak with mustard in a bun) and of course burčiak (the stage between must and wine). The entertainment would not be complete without merry-go-rounds or bumper-car-stand.
