Though the rafting season in the Pieniny finished on 31th October 2014, the offer of touristic and leisure activities will also be rich in the winter.
The first attraction are the hiking trails that are within the Pieniny National Park (Pieninský národný park), accessible to tourists all year round. The winter road closure of the trails is not applied here, as in the case of the High Tatras. The management of PIENAP (Pieniny National Park) prepared 12 new information panels on the educational trail Prielom Dunajca (Dunajec Breach) for visitors. The educational location with 8 panels near the Pieniny challet in the village Lesnica, will be also reopened. The new natural scientific exposition Príroda Pienin (the Nature of Pieniny) is opened throughout the year at the Management of PIENAP in Spišská Stará Ves.The second attraction is the possibility of cross-country skiing. In the winter, when there is sufficient snow cover, it is also possible to explore the Pieniny on cross-country skis. 50 km of adapted cross-country trails will be also available.
For recreational and exigent skiers, the ski resorts in Litmanová and Vyšné Ružbachy will also be available. After a good skiing, visitors will be able to use the services of the Smerdžonka spa in Červený Kláštor. Ľubovniansky hrad (Ľubovňa Castle) and Nestville Park with a permanent exposition of traditional crafts and distillery, will be opened.
