In November, Modra is coming alive with the debut of young wine. It's about time again to taste the young wine from this year and exactly this is the aim of this wine tasting event under Little Carpathians. Local wine makers from Modra and vicinity will offer their youngest wines. A part of the event will also be the benediction of the young wine.
It is not merely
a celebration of the tremendous effort and
results of vintners from charming winery town of
Modra and
Little Carpatian Wine Region, but also of the local winers' association's pursuit to strengthen the historical awareness of local citizens hold for their own traditions. Both, lovers of old and young wine are always satisfied.
While France celebrates the feast of young wines with Beaujolais nouveau, wine admirers in
Modra are raising a glass of St Catherine's, probably the most favourite young wine in Slovakia. The 20th year of the traditional young wine tasting will take place on Friday,
22 November at the Ľudovít Štúr Cultural Centre in
Modra. Here you have the opportunity to savour excellent wines from the its wide surroundings.
The programme of the St. Catherine’s Young Wine Festival in
Modra will include greeting of the guests by Chairman of the Vincúr association Mr. Vincent Jakubec, assessment of the wine-growing year of 2019 by Mr. Vladimír Sodoma, at 5 p. m. blessing of the young wines by Protestant pastor Jan Oslík and a Catholic priest Jozef Mišík. And, of course, tasting of wine samples afterwards.
