The South-Slovakian viticultural region is on the lowland spreading in the basins of rivers Danube and Hron at a mean altitude above sea level 140 metres.
The South-Slovakian viticultural region includes 8 viticultural areas (114 viticultural communes).
The most popular muscatel varieties grown in this region are Rizling vlašský, Rizling rýnsky, Burgundské biele, Chardonnay, blue varietiesCabernet Sauvignon and Frankovka modrá. Veltlínske zelené, Silvánske zelené plus the blue variety of Svätovavrinecké are additional varieties which complement the scale of vine grown and processed in this region.
