Standing in the open mountain pass of Dukla on the Slovak-Polish border you can see an observation tower offering a spectacular view of the Slovak and Polish territory – the background scenery of the fights during the Carpathian-Dukla operation.
The Tower was opened to the public in 1974 on the 30th anniversary of the Battle of Dukla pass. It is 49 m high and was built on the site of an original wooden observation tower from 1959 nearby a temporary observatory site of the commander of the 1st Czechoslovakian army corps.The tower interior is well-decorated with some art pieces: by academic sculptor A. Raček "Vítanie osloboditeľov" (Welcome of the Liberators), figural composition "Spoločný boj" (Common Fight) by the academic sculptor J. Koreň. The tower exterior is decorated with a "Lime tree branch" being a symbol of a Slavic solidarity created by academic sculptor F. Patočka.
Inside the observation tower you can find "A plan of an attack by the Red Army through the Carpathian mountains to directly help SNU" and "A layout map in the area of the Dukla Pass from 30 September to 5 November 1944".
