“Tokaj is only one” – that is the title of an interesting Swiss-Slovak project that aims to promote the development of tourism.
It is being implemented by the Tokaj Wine Road Association in partnership with the Agency for Regional Development in Košice and the Institute of Tourism at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne, Switzerland. So go ahead and enjoy a special day in Tokaj! Visit the medieval Tokaj wine cellars and try local culinary specialities and traditional crafts.
The TOKAJ wine-growing region will enchant you with its beautiful scenery of vineyards and delicious wine as well as the unique atmosphere of its Tokaj tufa cellars.
Now, it has another major attraction to offer. A new landmark has been erected near the village of Malá Tŕňa – a 12-metre high observation tower with an interesting shape. It resembles a wooden barrel and is situated directly in the vineyards between the villages of Malá Tŕňa and Černochov.
The Tokaj area has been deemed suitable for registration in the UNESCO World Heritage List for the Slovak Republic.
