The village of Slavošovce is the birth place of a prominent Slovak personality, evangelic priest, writer and collector of Slovak folk fairy-tales (primarily from the region of Gemer) - Pavol Emanuel Dobšinský.
P. E. Dobšinský was an excellent translator, glossator, author of travel books, and what is more, a collector of Slovak folk tales and a pioneer of ethnography. In the house where his family lived - a former evangelical rectory, a guided visit to a memorial room is available. The facade of the building bears a bronze memorial plaque by František Motoška; a stone memorial of this great man of Slovak history with a portrait bust by renowned sculptor Dušan Dzurek is situated in the premises of the elementary school.Author: Mgr.
