The oldest town in Slovakia awarded as 2018 European City of Sport will host another of its traditional events. Dies Universitatum Nitriensium are the annual series of scientific, sport, cultural, art and social events organized by the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra and the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra in cooperation with the City of Nitra. The manifold programme includes professional lectures, various sports competitions between teams of universities, the Nitra Spring Run, the workshop called the Paper Kite and the traditional music event Majales.
University days are organised every year in April and May by the students of both Nitra universities with many cultural activities, sports competitions, social, art groups and hobby clubs events. The matriculation ceremony of freshmen students and matriculation ball at the beginning of academic year have a long tradition, too.
