The architectural gem of Jasov is the Baroque monastery complex of the Premonstratesians included among the national cultural monuments.
Premonstratesians arrived here in the 12th century before the Tartar invasion to the Kingdom of Hungary.
The monastery existing here now was built on the site of an older Gothic building in 1766 pursuing the project of an outstanding architect Anton Pilgram. The lavishly ornamented interior of the monastic church in Baroque style, the library of monastery, and conserved French garden are especially valuable.
