Levický jarmok fair is one of the best-known autumn folk markets of south Slovakia in which stall-holders from Pohronie and Tatra regions as well as from more distant regions take part.
Levický jarmok fair has a tradition more than 100 years old. It used to be known as Tekovské trhy fair and is organised in the second half of October. It lasts for three days and is held in the centre of the town and the contiguous streets. Annual markets were held in Levice since 17th century and their speciality was selling goose quarters.
The town cultural centre provides a three-day programme marathon full of music from folklore through country and rock music, various music bands, singers, entertainers, theatre and humorous competitions.
The typical atmosphere of the fair is made by folk craftsmen, handicraftsmen, various masters with their typical products. There is a large offer of refreshments, especially home specialities, barbecued sausages, goose meat and sweet burčiak. (the stage between must and wine).
