Mushrooms 2025 (40th Anniversary Edition)

This year's Bratislava mushroom exhibition will be the fortieth in a row. After heavy rainfall, the mushroom season started in full swing at the beginning of August, which gives us hope for a diverse display of freshly picked edible, inedible and poisonous mushrooms. Mushroom exhibitions are a unique opportunity to get to know and compare individual species in person and a space for questions about collecting, processing or differences between mushrooms. During the event, visitors will have access to a mushroom advisory service, where they will be able to consult with experts on their current collections. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a competition for the largest (heaviest) fruiting body and the highest number of species brought. Interesting activities for the youngest mushroom pickers will also be prepared. Original illustrations by the famous Slovak mycologist A. Dermek will also be exhibited on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. The event will also feature the civic association Drž hubu, which will present the products of its mushroom farm, its engaging activities and other news. The accompanying event of the mushroom exhibition will be a unique exhibition of chili peppers "Spicy Treasures of the Aztecs".
The exhibition will take place from October 3 to 5, 2025 (Friday to Sunday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry at 4:30 p.m.) in the premises of the SNM – Natural Science Museum at Vajanského nábrežie no. 2 on the raised ground floor behind the internal staircase on the right.

Gabčíkovo is the largest water structure on the Danube. Individual tours are not usually available to the public. However, the Water Management Construction Company offers them to organized groups, making TurboVýlet a unique opportunity to get a close look at one of the largest water management projects in Europe. Comfortable bus transport to the Gabčíkovo Waterworks is provided from Piešťany, Trnava, and Galanta. The next stop will be one of the thermal parks of the Žitný ostrov.
Autumn Forest Wanders

A series of excursions focused on discovering the living and non-living nature. During these autumn walks, we will be guided by experienced experts in ornithology, geology, and zoology. In autumn 2025, tours will take place on Saturdays: 4 Oct, 18 Oct, and 1 Nov. Each Forest Wander begins at 10:00 AM. A successful hiking route in search of crayfish will lead us through the hills of the Majdánske area. We will learn fascinating facts about aquatic wildlife, sinkholes in the Kuchyňa-Orešany Karst, and, if we're lucky, we may spot crayfish in the streams of the Little Carpathians. During the experience-based hike through the Buková Valley, we’ll listen to birdsong, try to observe and identify birds, and learn about their migration routes and the importance of protecting them. On easy hiking trips, we will explore the enchanting scattered settlements in the Cerová area. With a bit of luck, we may discover the Trnávka spring or the rare gammarus.

The event is perfect for romantics, groups of friends, and families with children. *Svetlonos on the River* takes place on 25 Oct 2025 on the following waterways:
Váh River: section Rybársky dom, Jalšové – Hlohovec (4-hour paddle)
Little Danube: section Ister Jelka – Jelka Water Mill (2 to 3-hour paddle)
Danube Branches: Vojka nad Dunajom and back (3-hour paddle)
Autumn Ride on the Outlaw Express

On 30 October 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:45 PM, join the Autumn Ride on the Outlaw Express – an experience-filled journey aboard a special vehicle combined with an introduction to shepherding and farming life at an authentic mountain farm in Sedlo Zbojská. Visitors will explore the Zbojská Sheep Farm, sample local delicacies, and hear tales of fearless outlaws from the region. The ride continues through forest trails to Sedlo Chlípavice and its traditional farmstead, home to the Giant Cuckoo Clock. The Outlaw Express starts in the Tále recreational area and travels through the villages of Bystrá and Mýto pod Ďumbierom, across Sedlo Pohanské, and finishes in the town of Brezno. There, visitors can enjoy a unique “Brezno-style coffee” and shop for souvenirs made by local producers in the City Tower Info Centre.

Astronoc at Pohanské is a program designed for everyone fascinated by space and astronomy. At Sedlo Pohanské, with minimal light pollution, an evening stargazing session with telescopes and expert commentary will take place. Participants will learn about constellations, planets, and nocturnal celestial objects. This experience will be enriched with an authentic picnic under the stars.
