The most popular winter attraction of the High Tatras - the Tatra Ice Dome - opens its doors for the 11th time. This year, after ice buildings, representing architecture from different corners of the world, the ice dome is inspired by a rare personality and has a British touch. From November 17, visitors can enter the Tatra Ice Dome on Hrebienok, which hides an ice building with the motif of Westminster Abbey Church. Since 1066, it has been a symbol of British identity and the monarchy, and here, in the High Tatras, a reminder of precious moments. On October 24, 2008, Hrebienok was visited by Queen Elizabeth II. As a tribute to Her Majesty and at the same time to her heir, King Charles III, the Tatra Ice Dome, inspired by Westminster Abbey, was built on Hrebienok. Part of the Tatra Ice Dome is also an exhibition of photographs commemorating the visit of Queen Elizabeth II. in the High Tatras and an exhibition of scaled-down replicas of coronation objects donated directly by Westminster Abbey. The Tatra Ice Dome will be open daily until April 14, 2024. Entrance to the dome is free. The Tatra Ice Dome will host 12 musical concerts and performances during the season.

Christmas would probably not have come to the High Tatras without the snow nativity scene at Rainer's cottage. Thousands of visitors to Slovak's highest mountains agree with this statement. They come to see this work of art in Starolesnianska poľana (Starolesnanska Meadow) every year. Its author is the legendary Tatra mountain hut owner and sherpa Peter Petras, who built the first nativity scene in 1998. This year, Rainer's cottage in the High Tatras, officially called a shelter, is celebrating the 160th anniversary of its construction and the 25th anniversary of its re-opening. It is about half an hour's walk from the Hrebienok Hill resort and part of its premises is a small exhibition of the history and present of mountain sherpas and a collection of old climbing equipment and skis.
