64th Banská Bystrica Music Spring

The 64th edition of the Banská Bystrica Music Spring will bring four exceptional classical music concerts in March 2025. The concerts will feature leading soloists and chamber ensembles from Slovakia and abroad. The festival will kick off with a grand opening concert featuring the legendary violin virtuoso Václav Hudeček. Accompanied by the Slovak Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Ewald Danel, masterful works of classical music will be performed. The final concert of the festival, held in the Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier, will be dedicated to sacred music. Works by renowned artists from French, German, Czech, and Slovak composers will be performed.

Light Signal of the Pohronská Castle Road

The castles along the Pohronská Castle Road were once in visual contact with each other. They formed a system of guards and signals designed to protect the central Slovak mining towns from the Turkish threat. Through fire signals, they would warn of an approaching enemy. Can the castles still be seen today? Come and find out! On Friday, March 14, 2025, a team will visit each location to verify whether they can see the light signal from at least one other castle. The SIGNAL will be sent by the event organizers at 6:00 PM from each position. However, fires will not be lit—spotlights, strong flashlights, and headlamps will be used instead. If you have one, don’t forget to bring it!
