FATS JAZZ BAND is a nine-member orchestra reviving the tradition of hot jazz and swing from the 1920s to the 1940s. It was founded by Ladislav Fančovič, one of the best contemporary Slovak pianists. The orchestra’s use of restored historical musical instruments, period clothing, and authentic performance style is in perfect harmony with the era they represent. Despite its arguably old-fashioned nature, the orchestra’s sound evokes something timeless. The Folk Festival Východná is the oldest and largest nationwide festival with international participation in Slovakia. The largest Central European literary festival, Month of Author Readings (MAČ), will again take place in Bratislava! From July 4 to August 3, 2025, foreign writers from various parts of the world will present their work in the Rómer House combined with domestic authorship. This edition of MAČ is unique in that it does not focus on a single country for the first time (previous years featured Taiwan, Norway, or Iceland). Instead, it follows a specific theme — exile literature. Author readings will be held daily at 7:00 PM.

We invite you to the 6th edition of our event Flavors of Castle Cuisine at Sklabiňa Castle. The guests will be the Living History Association Via Castrum, presenting medieval cuisine from the 14th and 15th centuries with tastings. To aid digestion, entertainment and movement will be provided by our second guest, the medieval dance group Pulcherrima Rosa. You will also experience museum and castle tours, a demonstration of Renaissance dining, and tastings of homemade castle goat cheeses. A rarity of the event will be the presentation of a functionally restored mechanical spit, an old machine you won't see anywhere else in Slovakia. Roasted quails, game, and sauces cooked according to 400-year-old recipes will not be missing. All this can be experienced at the Turiec county castle Sklabiňa, the centuries-old seat of the Révay family. The event takes place in all weather conditions; in case of bad weather, you can enjoy the prepared meals in the castle cellar.

Discover the history of the Komárno Fortress in a completely different light. This season, we’ve prepared another series of exciting Night Tours, during which you'll have the opportunity to explore behind the scenes of the fortress — places normally off-limits to visitors. Tours are limited to a maximum of 50 people per group. Scheduled tour dates: 5 July / 9 August / 23 August / 6 September. The Slovak-language tour starts at 20:30, and the Hungarian-language tour at 21:00. Standard admission: €7 per person in advance, €9 at the venue. Tickets can be purchased online – here. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the museum’s founding, the Slovak National Museum – Bojnice Museum has prepared a unique photography exhibition in collaboration with its visitors, entitled “The Museum Through the Eyes of Visitors Over the Past 75 Years.” The result of this exceptional project is a display of over 200 photographs from more than 50 museum enthusiasts, primarily from the years 1950–2025, capturing unique perspectives, moments, and emotions. Visitors can look forward to black-and-white and color photographs divided into six categories: weddings, baby welcomings, events, walks around the castle, museum visits (group and individual), and behind-the-scenes. Each photograph presents an original depiction of an unrepeatable moment of a real person in a specific time through the lens.
