In 2025, we commemorate the 95th anniversary of the birth of prominent Slovak sculptor and national artist Ján Kulich. At the same time, it marks ten years since the founding of the gallery that bears his name. On this occasion, the exhibition project “Duration in Time” was created to gradually present various aspects of his rich artistic work. The first part of this exhibition cycle is dedicated to medal-making – a fascinating field where precision of detail meets depth of expression. The exhibition presents 415 medals and coins, representing roughly half of his medal-making output, and demonstrating Kulich’s mastery in working with small formats – in composition, symbolism, and narrative. The exhibited medals span from his early cooperation with the Kremnica Mint in 1949 to the peak period of his medal-making career and the final series of plaques of 45 world-famous composers.

When the majestic sound of the Military Band combines with the exceptional voice of Nela Pocisková, it creates an experience that moves even the most demanding listeners. The Military Band Banská Bystrica is tasked with providing musical support for military ceremonies according to the Protocol Rules of the Slovak Republic, memorial events, official parades, military funerals, ceremonial events, and other representative activities within the Ministry of Defense. It also serves as the representative ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic for public concert performances both domestically and abroad. Currently, the commander and conductor of the military band is Major Mgr. art. Ján GOLIAŠ, with Captain Mgr. art. Marek FLIMEL as his deputy conductor. The concert will feature soloist Nela Pocisková, a well-known Slovak singer and actress known for her roles in TV series and musicals.

Song for the River is a live performance by Finnish artist Pia Lindman, who has long been connecting art with science and environmental themes. In collaboration with scientists and students from various countries, she explored the mud from the Váh River to examine how specific frequencies and sound waves can stimulate microorganisms and contribute to water purification. The core of the evening is a musical performance based on a traditional Finnish healing technique called Manaus – singing and chanting spells to support healing. Performers include Sainkho Namtchylak – throat singer (Tuva), Tuomas Rounakari – violinist and singer (Finland), Eva Šušková – soprano (Slovakia). Curated by Lýdia Pribišová.
