Donovaly is not just alive in winter – Plenty to offer for summertime visitors

Are you looking to hike or relax in the Slovak mountains? Then come visit Donovaly!

The TELEMIX Nová Hoľa cableway and the thrilling attractions at the FunAréna Donovaly, which has the longest toboggan run in all of Slovakia, can be visited daily beginning 11 June.

The daily operation will continue until the end of the summer holiday on 4 September 2016.

Donovaly is especially well-known as a winter ski resort, but it’s redesigned its attractions to let visitors have some fun during the summer months too.

In 2008, a summer adrenalin centre was built near the valley station of the TELEMIX Nová Hoľa cableway. The centre features a ropes park, an artificial climbing wall, trampolines and bungee trampolines, and a bouncy castle.

But the biggest attraction is the toboggan run, which is one of only two runs in Slovakia. The run is located on the slope next to the cableway station and is almost 900 long. The thrilling ride on special trolleys includes 7 jumps and 11 sharp turns. The maximum speed that can be achieved in the fastest parts of the track is 45km/h.

The ropes centre is situated in the forest that borders the main road leading through Donovaly. It is one of the longest and largest ropes centres in Slovakia.

The bungee trampoline is a popular attraction at entertainment parks and simply cannot be missed at FunAréna Donovaly. It includes 4 separate trampolines where children – and even adults weighing up to 110kg – can jump up to 7m in the air they’re connected to the structure of the X-jump trampoline.

Besides the bungee trampoline, there is also an 8-person trampoline and a bouncy castle for children.

If you decide to visit the summer adrenaline centre, make sure to visit the Habakuky fairytale village located close to the cableway to Nová Hoľa. It’s inspired by the magical world of Pavol Dobšinský, who was a collector of Slovak folktales. The Habakuky fairytale world has 15 attractions, including fairytale houses with their original names and architecture intact, the Nutshell Castle with its majestic lake, and an amphitheatre with a stage for frequent performances.

In addition to these attractions, Donovaly also offers excellent conditions for hiking, since it’s located between two national parks: the Low Tatras and the Great Fatra. Nová Hoľa Mountain, which can be reached comfortably by taking the modern TELEMIX Nová Hoľa chair lift, is an ideal starting point for hikes along the ridges of the Great Fatra.
