The international theatre festival in Nitra is a presentation of the best works of the last theatre season of the Slovak and Czech troupes, but also a show of plays of various European theatre troupes. It is the greatest show of dramatic art in Slovakia.

The festival is held late in September in the premises of the theatres Divadlo Andreja Bagara and Staré divadlo.

The accompanying programme of the festival addresses visitors of all ages. It surpasses the borders of genres and kinds of art by bringing theatre plays, stage reading of theatre texts, films, literature, poetry, music, fine arts, and events for children, happenings or workshops.

The inseparable event is the solemn awarding of prizes, the so called “Dosky”(boards) in various categories.
