ÚĽUV Gallery in Bratislava will from September 19th, 2019 to February 28th, 2020 be decorated with hearts. With heart, specialists from The Centre For Folk Art Production prepared an exhibition presenting manifold diversity of ornaments that became very popular in modern era.
The exhibition “Decorated with the Heart” presents the variability of ornaments found on a large range of preserved items of traditional folk culture used in Slovakia, and shows the ways in which they can be used today. In ÚĽUV, they were motivated to organise this exhibition by the fact that with the contemporary boom in the use of folk ornamentation – from clothing to everyday objects – the trend of veering towards kitsch is becoming more and more noticeable.The ÚĽUV Gallery in Bratislava aims to provide a current view on traditional crafts and folk art production presenting work by traditional craftsmen and designers. Permanent exhibitions, as well as a rich choice of events for both adults and kids make the Gallery ÚĽUV a place to discover the diversity and beauty of handicrafts.
