The dominant of Prešov is the parish church of St Nicholas from the mid-14th century with tall tower reconstructed in Gothic style.
The construction of the Gothic church was finished in 1515.
Despite of repeated modifications and fire in 1788 many Gothic elements have been preserved in its architecture:domes, windows and portals.
The Gothic and Baroque styles alternate on the main altar of St Nicholas from 1696. Statues of angels from the beginning of the 16th century made in workshop of Master Pavol of Levoča are Gothic, for example.
