Prestigious British newspaper The Times published an overview of the best ski holidays destinations before the start of the 2014/2015 ski season. Slovakia's own High Tatras featured in the list.

This recognition has firmly placed these alpine Slovak mountains among the ranks of selected ski resorts in Austria, Switzerland, Canada and France. One of the major advantages of the High Tatras according to The Times is the accessibility and affordable pricing for British skiers.

The newspaper also notes that the High Tatras offered ski pistes perfect for beginners and more advanced skiers alike. One attractive option is the ability to visit the High Tatras for an extended three-night weekend break. Package prices for British tourists on such a ski vacation, including air fare, transfers, half-board and a 3-day ski pass and rental equipment, start at just £500.

"The High Tatras have focused in advance of the upcoming season on increasing the quality of services and snow grooming on a number of ski pistes. The ski areas in Tatranská Lomnica, Starý Smokovec and Štrbské Pleso deliver 24 km of pistes and 60 km of Nordic ski trails to skiers. A diverse range of accompanying social activities and relaxation offered at the nearby aqua park in Poprad ensure a rich overall experience. The potential of the High Tatras on the British market has been enhanced by new regular flights scheduled between London Luton and Poprad-Tatry. More visitors from Great Britain can now enjoy even more convenient access to Slovakia throughout the upcoming winter season. The Winter Universiade from 24 January to 1 February 2015 welcoming athletes and fans to both Štrbské Pleso and Osrblie is one of the major attractions in addition to the excellent skiing conditions," said Marta Kučerová, General Director of the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR).
