Description of the route: Ascent to the mountain which is the national symbol of Slovakia with fantastic views from its summit. Demanding high-mountain tour. Ascent to Kriváň is demanding but technically simple. In bad weather it is vital to stick to the marked trail. Greater part of the route is closed in winter.
Especially the northern and eastern faces of the Kriváň Mt. are classified as a difficult mountaineering terrain. No opportunity to take refreshment or find shelter on the route. Kriváň is more than a plain mountain to Slovaks. It is their national symbol. You should not leave the Tatras without experiencing the view of the Spiš and Liptov landscapes from its curved top.
