The amateur filmmaker Jozef Dovičin worked day and night to film one of the most charming areas of Slovakia in wintertime.

He was even willing to hike in extremely deep snow six times to get the best shot of the sunrise and sunset from Veľký Rozsutec.

Although the conditions were often unfavourable, he persevered and was able to fulfill his dream.

“I should mention the time when I was climbing up at 3:00 a.m., and even until 5:00 a.m. the moon was still beautifully shining, there were millions of stars in the sky, but an hour later when I was approaching the peak of Veľký Rozsutec, there was only fog and snowfall everywhere,” Jozef Dovičin said about filming.

“Another time it was a beautiful morning but the trail to Veľký Rozsutec hadn't been trodden yet, and it was impossible to make it without snowshoes; although I had a pair, I gave up half an hour before reaching the peak. I mean, to wade through two feet of fresh snow, which had fallen the night before...it's no fun to climb the steep hill in such conditions. I didn't make it. Maybe I'd made it if the fog wouldn't have occurred as it usually does, but I turned to head back. In the afternoon I returned, the trail had already been walked on; although it was foggy I reached the peak and it was amazing, I was just above the inversion threshold, something beautiful.”

The result is certainly worth watching.
