The charming landscape of hamlets is situated at the frontier between Slovakia and Morava. It is picturesque and replenished with fine views. The round forms often alternate with limestone rocks, which are protected phenomena on both sides of the frontier as the Protected landscape area of Biele Karpaty.

The Slovak part of the mountain range has been included into the Protected landscape area Biele Karpaty  in 1979. It stretches on an area of 43,519 ha. The PLA stretches now in the 80 km long territory of the mountain range Biele Karpaty. Apart from that, a fraction of the territory of the PLA lies in the neighbouring hills Myjavská pahorkatina. It includes the area around Branč.

One of the most popular parts of this Protected landscape area are Nature Reserves which protect the rocks near Vršatské Podhradie, Červený Kameň, Lednica and Dolná Súča. The Nature Reserve of Veľká Javorina protects the original woods on the flanks of the tallest mountain of this mountain range. Administration of the Protected landscape area Biele Karpaty seats in Nemšová.

Also the other side of the PLA Biele Karpaty situated in Morava is included into the UNESCO network of the European biosphere reserves.
