Demänovská jaskyňa slobody is part of the huge underground karst system in the valley Demänovská dolina below the Nízke Tatry Mts. It boasts a unique drip stone ornamentation, which makes it one of the most beautiful caves of Europe.

The entrance is at the altitude of 870 m and it is accessible via switchbacks that start at the parking lot. One has to climb the altitude difference of 67 m (about 10 minutes). The total length of its corridors is more than 8,400 m, out of which 7,624 m have been surveyed so far. There are two visitor routes available; the longer one of then is 2,150 m long (can be walked in 100 minutes), while the shorter of them (1,150 m) takes 60 minutes.

There are numerous large hollow spaces in this cave called halls and domes with wonderful sinters. Veľký dóm or the Large Dome with dimensions 75×45×65 m is the largest of them. Apart from several stretches of underground channel of the Demänovka, the visitors can also see the cave lakes. The big lake is as much as 52 m long and 7 m deep.

In the Demänovská jaskyňa slobody cave there is a permanent temperature of 6.1 to 7.0 degrees Celsius all over the year. High relative air humidity of 94 to 99 percent is suitable for therapy. Diseases of the respiratory tract and allergies are successfully cured here.
